Gas Dealers Release New Prices for 12kg, 6kg Cooking Gas as Dangote, Depots Crash Rates Nationwide

Gas dealers across Nigeria have announced new prices for 12kg and 6kg cooking gas cylinders, with Dangote Refinery and other depots crashing rates nationwide. The depot price has been driven by Dangote Refinery, leading to an increase in prices for consumers.

Retailers are now selling cooking gas for around N840-N920 per kg, with a profit margin of N310 per kilogramme in Lagos and N410 per kg in Ogun state. This has led to concerns about high prices and the impact on households, with experts warning of health and environmental hazards as consumers may resort to alternative fuels.

Dangote's plan to supply directly to retail outlets at a lower price of N760 per kg could potentially change the pricing dynamics and benefit consumers. The move is seen as a strategy to curb profiteering and drive competition in the market.
