NUAT Accuses AMCON of Mismanagement of Aero Contractors

The National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUAT), represented by its president NNabu Kony, has accused the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) of mismanaging Aero Contractors Company Limited. The union expressed concerns that AMCON's actions are stifling the airline's growth and undermining its recovery over the years.

They warned that continued interference by AMCON, which lacks the necessary technical expertise in aviation, is reversing the modest gains made by the airline. The union criticized AMCON for refusing to provide critical operational funding, which has left Aero Contractors struggling to maintain stability in an already fragile industry.

NUAT has called on the federal government to compel AMCON to divest its shares in the airline to facilitate professional, market-driven management. Additionally, the union is appealing for tax waivers and financial relief to support the airline's recovery and growth, emphasizing the need for appropriate authorities to grant these requests.
