Ogun State Government Warns Coastal Residents Against Borehole Water Due to Flooding

The Ogun State Government issued a warning to residents in coastal communities to avoid using boreholes and well water due to expected flood surges from September to October. The State Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, advised residents to consider relocating to safer grounds.

The warning was part of the 2025 Ogun State Midterm Flood Alert, as high rainfall and water flow from northern Nigeria and Benin Republic, combined with potential dam releases, could worsen flooding in the state. Communities along the coastline are expected to be particularly affected, emphasizing the need for precautionary measures.
