"Ogun State Urges Coastal Residents to Relocate Amid Flood Risks"

The Ogun State Government has urged residents of coastal communities to relocate to safer areas due to the expected impact of heavy rainfall and river overflow. Coastal areas like Ilo, Iju, Akute, Ayetoro, and others are at risk of flooding, with the government issuing a Midterm Flood Alert for the state.

The Commissioner of Environment, Dr. Ola Oresanya, emphasized the need for preparedness as the second phase of flooding is predicted to last for two weeks between September and November. The government's advisory comes in response to the potential dangers posed by the rainy season and river levels, with a focus on ensuring the safety of residents in vulnerable areas.
