AWLA Enugu Addresses Rising Gender-Based Violence

The African Women Lawyers Association (AWLA) Enugu chapter recently expressed significant concern regarding the increasing rates of gender-based violence (GBV) in Enugu State. During the inauguration of their newly appointed executive team, led by Ngozi Enusobi, the association pledged to work tirelessly to utilize legal channels aimed at reducing GBV incidents to the barest minimum.

Enusobi acknowledged the need to tackle various issues, including child trafficking, underage marriage, and domestic violence, while emphasizing the importance of support from the government and judiciary. She praised the outgoing coordinator, Ifeoma Vivian Nwagbara, for her achievements and the strong foundation she laid for the organization.

Enusobi expressed confidence in the new leadership's dedication to defending vulnerable members of society and assured that justice would be pursued in every GBV case. The association aims to significantly reduce GBV cases in Enugu, particularly concerning child trafficking and underage marriage.
