Ruling House Urges Ogun Governor to Resume Awujale Selection

The Fusengbuwa ruling house has formally requested Ogun State Governor Abiodun to permit the kingmakers to finalize the selection of the next Awujale of Ijebuland, a process that is scheduled for January 2026. This appeal comes after the selection process was suspended due to allegations of bribery against members of the ruling house, which has created anxiety among Ijebu indigenes.

Owoyemi, a principal member of the ruling house, emphasized that the ongoing suspension is unfair and disrupts a long-standing traditional process. He insisted that the allegations have not been substantiated and called for the government to avoid delaying the emergence of the next Awujale based on unproven claims.

The ruling house expressed confidence in the integrity of the kingmakers, who have historically been responsible for selecting the next monarch, and highlighted the importance of restoring stability and unity across Ijebuland.
