Ruling House Urges Tinubu, Abiodun to Lift Awujale Suspension

The Fusengbuwa ruling house in Ijebuland has expressed concern over the ongoing suspension of the selection process for the new Awujale, which has been halted for three months. Abdulateef Owoyemi, the chairman of the ruling house, alongside deputy chairman Adedokun Ajidagba and vice chairman Fassi Yusuf, called for intervention from President Bola Tinubu and Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun.

The selection process was suspended due to a petition from security agencies regarding allegations of bribery, although no incriminating evidence was found against the ruling house members. The last Awujale, Oba Sikiru Adetona, passed away in July 2025, creating a vacancy that the ruling house is eager to fill.

Owoyemi appealed for the immediate lifting of the suspension to allow the kingmakers to fulfill their statutory responsibilities and select the next Awujale without further delay.
