Ayra Starr Releases 'Starrgirl' Album with Top Collaborators

Ayra Starr's third studio album, "Starrgirl," was released on August 14, 2023, through Mavin Records and Republic Records, following a two-year wait since her previous album, "The Year I Turned 21." The 16-track project was recorded in Lagos, New York, and Los Angeles, featuring collaborations with notable artists including Wizkid, Rema, ZAYN, and Leon Thomas. Starr describes the album as a reflection of her multifaceted identity, influenced by various cultures and experiences.

The album opens with an electronic intro titled "Initiating RAGE process," co-produced by Johnny Drille, RAGEE, and X Ize, which blends rap and sung hooks over trap-influenced production. Among the standout tracks is a quiet Afro-R&B duet with Leon Thomas, characterized by warm guitar riffs and soft keyboard chords.

Another notable track captures the vibrant nightlife of a city with a heavy dancefloor rhythm, showcasing a blend of Nigerian Afropop and bouyon textures in collaboration with Theodora.
