Babalakin & Co. Launches N9m Art Competition for Youth

Babalakin & Co., a leading commercial law firm, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria's creative economy by launching an art competition with a total prize of N9 million. The competition, themed "Japa Japada," encourages young Nigerian artists to reflect on migration and opportunities for contributing to national development.

The event featured 100 entries, from which 26 finalists were shortlisted. Olawal Akoni, a managing partner at the firm, emphasized the importance of educating emerging artists about intellectual property rights and legal safeguards necessary for building sustainable careers.

The overall winner, Segun Owolabi, received N5 million, while Faith Michael and Ridwanullah Zakariyau won N2 million and N1 million, respectively. Joseph Oluebubechukwu also received N1 million as the People's Choice Award winner.

Dr. Bolanle Olawale Babalakin, a senior partner at the firm, noted the competition as a long-term investment in Nigeria's creative industry, which significantly contributes to the economy and job creation.
