Young Artist Kendis Receives ₦2.5m and Scholarship

Seven-year-old artist Kendis was awarded a full scholarship up to university level and a cash gift of ₦2.5 million by Senator Solomon Adeola, the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Ogun State, after his portrait of the senator gained viral attention. The presentation occurred during Senator Adeola’s Scholarship and Bursary Award Ceremony on Sunday, where Kendis was invited to present the original portrait.

Kendis, guided by his father, shared his inspiration for the artwork in an emotional video posted on TikTok, expressing a desire to "paint tomorrow today" instead of waiting for a better future. He recounted conversations with his father about their struggles and the hope for improvement, leading him to create art that reflects joy, hope, and aspirations.

The gesture was well-received by attendees, who applauded the encouragement of young talents.
