Bago Advocates Solar Power for Niger State Residents

Niger State Governor Mohammed Bago has called on residents to disregard the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) and instead invest in solar power systems for their homes to alleviate the persistent blackouts affecting the state. In a recent address to newsmen, Bago expressed frustration over the continuous power supply failures and announced plans for a protest by civil society groups against the poor electricity situation.

He highlighted the government's efforts to transition state facilities, including hospitals and schools, to solar power to ensure reliable service delivery. Additionally, Bago addressed the issue of potable water scarcity in Minna, promising to desilt the Tagwai Dam and repair aging pipelines.

He also mentioned that 300,000 people have been affected by insecurity in the state, with ten local governments experiencing displacement due to flooding. Bago urged citizens to exercise patience as the government works to restore peace and stability while also appealing for collaboration in developing boreholes for clean water access.
