Abuja Residents Face Severe Electricity Supply Crisis

Residents in Abuja have expressed their frustration over the ongoing electricity crisis, which has persisted for nearly two months. The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) is experiencing highly irregular power supply, leading to significant challenges for households and businesses.

Individuals like Jennifer, a hairdresser in Kurudu, and Mr. Ogidi, a welder, lament the impact on their livelihoods, as they cannot predict when power will be available.

Mr. Udoka, who runs a cold room business, has been forced to shut down operations due to the high cost of fuel, which has risen to over N1,000 per liter.

Similarly, Mr. Chidera, a tailor, described the situation as unpredictable, with power sometimes available for only a few seconds.

Residents have also raised concerns about discrepancies in their electricity bills despite minimal supply. AEDC has acknowledged the issues on social media, apologizing and assuring residents that improvements will be made once power is allocated to the area.

However, residents insist that urgent intervention is necessary to address the ongoing crisis.
