Edo State Initiates 100MW Power Project Amid Supply Issues

Edo State is currently facing significant challenges regarding electricity supply, primarily due to the erratic service provided by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), which has negatively impacted businesses across the state. During the 52nd annual convention of the Uromi Community Association of Nigeria (UCAN) held in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area, the issue of electricity was highlighted as a major concern for the people of Edo.

In response to these challenges, the state government has initiated plans to flag off a 100MW power project in Benin City, which is expected to be inaugurated soon. This project aims to decentralize the power sector and ensure that residents of Edo Central, particularly in Afemai, have reliable access to electricity.

HRH Anselm Edenoji II drew attention to the pressing challenges faced by the area and urged the governor to prioritize the completion of the Ahoji Township Stadium.
