Bagudu Enhances Nigeria's Economic Planning Framework

Since assuming office as Minister of Budget and Economic Planning in August 2023, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has played a crucial role in Nigeria's economic reforms under President Bola Tinubu's administration. His efforts have centered on realigning Nigeria's fiscal and development planning with the Renewed Hope Agenda amid significant economic challenges, including the removal of petrol subsidies and foreign exchange reforms.

A key achievement was the negotiation and signing of the 2024 Appropriation Bill by President Tinubu on January 1, 2024, which restored the January-to-December fiscal cycle. This restoration enhances the connection between planning and execution for ministries, departments, and agencies, while providing businesses and investors with better visibility over public expenditure.

Bagudu's ministry has also been involved in supplementary appropriations and budget amendments, contributing to a more predictable framework for fiscal operations across the federation.
