Babachir Lawal Calls Atiku Abubakar 'Kachalla' in Interview

Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, publicly referred to Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 elections, as "Kachalla" during an interview on Channel Television's "Politics Today." Lawal explained that the term is traditionally bestowed upon leaders of Fulani bandits, suggesting a connection between Atiku and ongoing insecurity in Nigeria. He criticized Atiku's response to bandit attacks and noted that Atiku's kinsmen celebrated the party's ticket.

Lawal's comments followed his resignation from the ADC, where he labeled the recent primaries as a "disgraceful charade" and a conspiracy that silenced rightful winners through manipulation by Atiku's loyalists. Despite his criticisms of the current administration, Lawal stated that President Bola Tinubu is a better leader than Atiku.
