Bandits Abduct 10 Students in Kaduna Vehicle Ambush

On Sunday, April 26, bandits ambushed a vehicle along the Awon-Kachia road in Kaduna State, resulting in the abduction of 10 students and several other passengers. The vehicle was transporting students back to school for the weekend when the attack occurred.

According to sources, three students managed to escape during the incident. Among the abducted were Augustina Muntari, a student at GSS Gumel, Favour Tanimu and Patience Joseph, both from GSS Kachia, and Irimiya Bishara from St. John's School Kachia.

The driver, Fatu Danladi, and another passenger, Laraba Caleb, were also taken. Puriti Babangida expressed fear for the safety of the abducted individuals.

This incident has been described as a significant setback for girls' education in northern Nigeria, particularly affecting ongoing campaigns to promote education amidst cultural beliefs and insecurity. As of the time of reporting, the abductors had not contacted the victims' families, and no official statement had been issued regarding the incident.
