‘Bandits bent on forcefully occupying our lands’ – Plateau community cries out

The President of the Chakfem Youth Movement in Plateau State, Da Simon Takbang, has raised alarm over Fulani bandits attempting to forcefully annex their lands. In a press conference in Jos, Takbang reported that the bandits had killed 15 people, displaced others, and destroyed property in several communities in the Chakfem Chiefdom.

The bandits, heavily armed and numbering in the hundreds, invaded villages and indiscriminately fired at sleeping residents, leaving many injured and homes destroyed. Takbang expressed dismay at the attacks, which he described as premeditated and aimed at dispossessing the community of their ancestral lands.

He called on the government to deploy security personnel permanently in the area and provide support for rebuilding the destroyed villages. The community leader also appealed to both the state and federal governments to take immediate action to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
