Bandits Kill Three, Abduct Woman in Katsina Community

On Friday at approximately 5 pm, bandits invaded the Dansarai community in Katsina, resulting in the deaths of three residents and injuries to five others. The attackers, arriving on about 50 motorcycles with three armed men on each, operated for nearly five hours, moving from house to house, looting shops, and terrorizing residents.

Shafiu Umar, a local resident, reported that the bandits stole mobile phones, food items, clothes, and other valuables. The assault is believed to be a reprisal for an incident three months prior when residents confronted bandits attempting to invade the community.

Since that confrontation, the community has been living in fear. In addition to the fatalities and injuries, a woman was abducted during the attack.

Dansarai, located in the eastern part of Malumfashi LGA, has experienced repeated attacks in recent years, leading to killings, abductions, livestock rustling, and the displacement of residents. DSP Sadiq Aliyu, spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, stated he would verify the information but had not provided updates by the time of reporting.
