Bandits Kill One, Abduct 31 in Katsina Community Attack

Armed bandits attacked the Shuwaki community in the Bakori local government area of Katsina state, resulting in the death of one resident and injuries to at least seven others. The incident occurred between 9 p.m. and 9:45 p.m., with the attackers operating for approximately one and a half to two hours.

Aminu Magaji, a former chairman of Bakori Local Government Area, reported that the bandits abducted 32 individuals during the raid, later releasing one woman who was unable to continue due to illness, leaving 31 people in captivity, predominantly women, some with infants. No ransom demands or communication had been received from the attackers at the time of the interview.

This attack follows a series of assaults on neighboring communities in Bakori since late July, leading to fatalities, abductions, and livestock theft, raising significant concerns about the safety of residents and the impact on local farming and economic activities.
