Bandits Kill Ya’u Faduma, Abduct Wife in Katsina Attack

On October 25, bandits attacked the community of Karofi in Katsina, killing Ya’u Faduma and abducting his wife. This incident occurred just three days after another abduction involving 25-year-old Rukayya, the wife of Sule Mai Kaji, on October 23.

The attack has caused significant distress among residents, leading some to flee to Dutsin-Ma town, located approximately 12 kilometres away. A resident, Babangida Karofi, expressed that the ongoing violence has heightened fears for safety within the community.

Another resident, Maikudi Mai Petur Karofi, reported that the gunmen operated for about an hour before leaving with the victim after killing her husband. He described the situation as devastating, with residents feeling confused and uncertain about future attacks.

The incidents have raised serious concerns regarding the effectiveness of community-driven peace efforts in the area.
