Bandits Re-abduct Trader in Zamfara One Year After Paying N2m Ransom

Trader Muhammadu Lakada was re-abducted by suspected armed bandits in Zamfara, a year after paying a N2 million ransom for his release. The incident occurred at his residence in Yan Uku community, Garbadu ward, Talata Mafara local government area.

The bandits also took his son and a neighbor. This abduction is part of a series of coordinated raids in the area, leaving residents in constant fear.

Locals believe the bandits target individuals with financial capacity to meet ransom demands, ensuring a steady flow of payouts. The attacks have left the community impoverished and displaced.

The Zamfara State Police Command has not yet commented on the incident. This incident highlights the ongoing wave of banditry in northern Nigeria, with at least 35 kidnappings reported in Zamfara despite families paying substantial ransoms.
