Kwara Monarch Freed After N32m Ransom Payment

Oba Simeon Olanipekun, the monarch of Ifelodun Local Government Area in Kwara State, has regained his freedom after being abducted by gunmen. His family paid an additional N12 million ransom, totaling N32 million, for his release.

Oba Simeon Olanipekun was kidnapped alongside his son, Olaolu, who was also released following the payment of an initial N20 million ransom. The Kwara State Police Command, however, denies any knowledge of the ransom payment.

The monarch is said to be receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital due to the physical and psychological trauma suffered during his captivity. Security agencies and the state government are urged to intensify efforts to curb the rising wave of kidnapping and banditry in rural parts of Kwara State.
