Wema Bank Champions Gender Equality on International Women's Day

Wema Bank, Nigeria's oldest indigenous bank, has marked a significant four-year streak of initiatives for International Women's Day (IWD), emphasizing inclusive empowerment. The Managing Director and CEO, Moruf Oseni, highlighted the bank's commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment during the IWD 2026 event.

Since 2013, Wema Bank has launched the Wema Women Network, which supports female employees through mentorship and career advancement opportunities. In 2019, the bank extended its impact externally with the launch of the Sara Wema community, designed to assist women across Nigeria in various demographics.

This initiative aims to provide financial and non-financial support, helping women identify their strengths and choose suitable career paths. Over the past seven years, Wema Bank has evolved its support system, resulting in numerous success stories.
