Nigerian Banks to Close Branches on Independence Day for 65th Anniversary

Banks in Nigeria are set to close all branches on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, in observance of the country's 65th Independence Anniversary. Customers are advised to utilize electronic banking channels such as ATMs, mobile apps, internet banking, and USSD platforms on the public holiday.

Notable financial institutions like Zenith Bank, UBA, GTB, Premium Trust Bank, Lotus Bank, and Stanbic IBTC will be closed on the day and resume normal operations on Thursday, October 2, 2025. The closure directive was issued by the Ministry of Interior on behalf of the Federal Government to mark the historic occasion.
