Nigerian Banks to Close for Prophet Muhammad's Birth Celebration

Several commercial banks in Nigeria, including UBA, Zenith Bank, and GTB, will close their branches for 24 hours on Friday, September 5, 2025, in observance of a public holiday marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad SAW. The Ministry of Interior announced the public holiday, which falls on the third month of the Islamic calendar, to celebrate the occasion.

The government extended congratulations to Muslims across Nigeria and called for unity, peace, and compassion during the celebration. The closure of bank branches aims to allow staff and customers to participate in the holiday festivities and reflect on the teachings of Prophet Muhammad SAW.
