Barau Jibrin Welcomes Shekarau and Gwarzo to APC

On a recent occasion, Barau Jibrin, the Deputy President of the Senate, welcomed two prominent politicians, former Kano State Governor Ibrahim Shekarau and former Chief Whip of the Senate Bello Hayatu Gwarzo, to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Both politicians resigned from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) amid ongoing leadership crises within the opposition party in Kano State.

In a statement issued by Ismail Mudashir, Barau described their defection as a significant boost to the APC's strength and prospects for the upcoming 2027 general elections. He emphasized that Shekarau and Gwarzo, as distinguished politicians, rightfully belong to the APC and will align with its progressive agenda.

Barau expressed confidence in sustaining grassroots support for the APC in Kano State, which he believes will secure victories in presidential, gubernatorial, and parliamentary elections in 2027. He also noted the ongoing wave of defections to the APC, reflecting growing confidence in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
