Bashir Ahmad Questions U.S. Lawmakers Over Kwankwaso Sanctions Proposal

Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, expressed surprise on Twitter regarding the proposed inclusion of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in a sanctions list by U.S. lawmakers. Ahmad questioned why the former Kano State governor and ex-Minister of Defense was linked to terrorism and religious intolerance.

The comments came after a bill titled "Nigeria Religious Freedom Account Act 2026" was introduced by U.S. lawmakers, recommending sanctions like visa restrictions and asset freezes against Kwankwaso and certain Fulani herder groups accused of religiously motivated violence.
