Kwankwaso's Aide Slams Proposed U.S. Sanctions as Malicious

Folashad Aliu, an aide to former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, condemned the proposed sanctions by the United States, asserting that they are malicious and politically motivated. The sanctions are part of a new bill introduced in the U.S.

Congress, which aims to enhance accountability for human rights abuses in Nigeria, specifically targeting issues related to religious freedom. The bill, known as the Religious Freedom Accountability Act of 2026, includes provisions for potential sanctions against Fulani militia.

Aliu defended Kwankwaso, describing him as a nationalist with good character. She made these statements during a prime-time interview on Arise Television on Thursday, emphasizing that the sanctions are a serious and malicious move against Kwankwaso.
