Battle for ADC structure rages in Abia, as group suspends chairman

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abia State is embroiled in a leadership crisis as a group within the party suspends State Chairman Norman Obinna over allegations of misconduct and disregard for party principles. The suspension was announced after a harmonization meeting of different faction members in Aba, where participants voted to suspend Obinna pending an investigation into the allegations.

Interim Chairman Okoroafor Kanu stated that Obinna's leadership style had alienated party members, leading to the decision to suspend him. However, the suspension has been challenged by some members, including Rev.

Blessed Amalambu, a 2023 House of Assembly candidate, who deemed the process unconstitutional and lacking credibility. Despite the suspension, Obinna maintains that he is the authentic Chairman of ADC in Abia State.

The situation remains tense as different factions within the party vie for control.
