Bauchi State Distributes Tractors and Machines for Agriculture

On Saturday, Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed presided over the distribution of 40 tractors, 9 heavy-duty machines, and 100 motorcycles aimed at boosting agricultural productivity for the 2026 farming season. This initiative, part of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) program, received support from the World Bank and is intended to improve the welfare of the people in Bauchi State.

The tractors were distributed across 20 local government areas (LGAs), with each LGA receiving two additional heavy-duty machines. The distribution also involved motorcycles for agricultural extension officers and personnel from the Rural Water and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA).

Governor Mohammed emphasized the critical role of the ACReSAL initiative in addressing climate change, combating land degradation, and increasing agricultural output. The project coordinator, Dr.

Ibrahim Kabir, noted that the previous farming season generated N36 million from the distribution of 20 tractors, with expectations of further financial benefits. The initiative is set to continue until 2028, focusing on environmental restoration and reducing conflicts between herders and farmers.
