Bauchi State Schedules Local Government Elections for 2026

The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) has announced that local government elections will take place on August 17, 2026. A statement released by the commission's secretary, Nuru Abdulhamid, confirmed the issuance of a 60-day notice to comply with the provisions of the Bauchi State electoral law.

This notice is intended to notify political parties and stakeholders, as well as the general public, ahead of the elections. Abdulhamid emphasized the importance of providing sufficient time for political parties to prepare for the electoral process.

He also reiterated the commission's commitment to conducting free, fair, transparent, and credible elections. The commission plans to release detailed timelines and relevant information regarding the elections in due course, ensuring strict adherence to electoral laws and guidelines.
