Adamawa State to Hold Local Government Elections on June 13

The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) is set to conduct local government elections on June 13, 2026, covering 21 local government chairmen and 226 ward councilors across the state. In preparation for the elections, ADSIEC held a meeting with political party chairmen at its headquarters in Yola, where the election timetable was approved.

Alhaji Moham Umar, the chairman of ADSIEC, emphasized the commission's commitment to making adequate preparations to ensure the success of the polls. He reaffirmed that the elections will take place as scheduled and urged political parties to guide their members towards active participation.

A total of 11 political parties have submitted candidates for the elections. Mr.

Adamu Usman, representing the African Democratic Congress, commended ADSIEC for its early preparations. Additionally, Bello Babajo, chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), called for free, fair, and transparent elections.
