Bauchi Fire Outbreaks Claim Two Lives, Destroy N1.5bn Properties in 2025

The Bauchi State Fire Service revealed that two lives were lost and properties valued at N1.5 billion were destroyed in fire incidents that occurred between January and December 2025. Umar Lawal, the Public Relations Officer of the state command, disclosed that a total of 167 fire incidents were reported during this period, affecting public, government, private, educational, market, petrol stations, and automobile properties.

The breakdown indicated that properties worth N855.1 million were saved, while N1.59 billion worth of properties were destroyed. The Fire Service attributed the fire incidents to electrical equipment malfunctions, power surges, illegal storage of petroleum products, accidents, and dustbin fires.

Residents were advised to ensure the safekeeping of electrical appliances, guard against overloading, and take necessary precautions to prevent fire outbreaks. The importance of fire safety in all aspects of human activities was emphasized to safeguard lives, properties, and the environment.
