Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed Joins Allied People's Movement

On Saturday, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed announced his defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the Allied People's Movement (APM). This decision follows a meeting with political stakeholders and comes in the wake of a Supreme Court judgment that has significantly altered the political landscape for the PDP, nullifying the legal standing of a rival faction.

Mohammed expressed appreciation for the PDP's role in his political journey but stressed the necessity of moving to a more stable platform to ensure continued electoral success. He outlined measures for a smooth transition, including the establishment of a compliance committee and an online membership registration process.

APM's national chairman, Yusuf Dantal, welcomed Mohammed, highlighting the party's commitment to democratic principles and its recent electoral successes. The defection reflects a strategic move to secure a viable political future amid uncertainties within the PDP.
