The Bauchi State government has disbursed N2.369 billion as gratuities to 1,285 retired civil servants from both state and local government levels. This payment is part of the first batch of an ongoing exercise covering retirees from 2012 to 2013, as announced by the verification and disbursement committee during a press conference at the Government House, Bauchi.
Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed approved a total of N10 billion for these payments. Ibrahim Inuwal, the executive secretary of the Bauchi State Contributory Pension Commission, noted that 243 retirees had not yet collected their cheques.
An additional window for these beneficiaries to complete their procedures will open alongside the second batch of disbursements. The committee reported that 1,285 retirees had completed the payment process, with 243 still outstanding.
Approximately N351 million has been allocated for these outstanding beneficiaries, with specific amounts reserved for state and local government retirees. The second phase will begin processing retirees from 2014.
