Bauchi State Government Commits to Women's Health Initiatives

The Bauchi State Government has reiterated its commitment to addressing health and welfare issues affecting women and children within the state. Hajiya Talatu Musa Gar, the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Women and Child Development, made this statement during an advocacy visit by the Women Child Youth Health and Education Initiative (WCY).

The visit aimed to garner support for the full implementation of the state’s Child Protection Law. Kamal Ali Bello, the State Senior Programme Officer of WCY, emphasized the ministry's capacity to ensure the law's implementation, given its role in its domestication and assent.

He advocated for the establishment of an implementation and monitoring committee as mandated by the Child Protection Law to effectively track its execution. Additionally, Bello highlighted WCY's commitment to addressing the educational needs of adolescent girls who have dropped out of school due to marriage or other reasons, with support from the Malala Fund aimed at improving the enrolment and retention of out-of-school children.
