Bauchi PDP Forms Exit Committee Amid Defection Talks

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State has established a high-powered exit committee to evaluate its future amidst increasing discussions of defection involving Governor Bala Mohammed. This move follows indications that the governor may consider shifting to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

On Tuesday, Mohammed disclosed that the ADC is a preferred destination for potential defectors. The committee, chaired by Deputy Governor Auwal Jatau, includes various stakeholders across the party's governance structure, such as representatives from the national and state assemblies, local government chairmen, and senior party figures.

PDP Chairman Samaila Burga confirmed the committee's mandate to explore options that best serve the collective interests of party members. The committee is tasked with preparing a report for subsequent meetings to determine the party's political direction in the state.
