Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed Signals Possible PDP Exit

On Wednesday, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed hinted at a possible defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). During a meeting with an ADC delegation led by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal, Mohammed described the PDP as "headless" and criticized its internal crises.

He acknowledged ongoing discussions about joining the ADC, stating that attempts to reconcile within the PDP have not been successful. Mohammed emphasized that he cannot remain in a party that appears politically stagnant and mentioned the formation of a committee to explore options at both national and state levels, including discussions with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He also criticized FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, suggesting that Wike's actions have harmed the PDP. Mohammed promised to make a formal decision regarding his political future on Thursday, indicating that his move would involve consultations with stakeholders.
