Bauchi Stakeholders Push for Stronger Tobacco Control Measures and Higher Taxes

Bauchi stakeholders are advocating for stronger tobacco control measures, including higher taxes, to protect citizens from the dangers of smoking. The call was reiterated during a training workshop organized by the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC).

Despite the National Tobacco Control Act of 2015, weak enforcement has left millions of Nigerians at risk of direct smoking exposure. Stakeholders emphasized the need for effective taxation and policy implementation to address the growing health and social burden of tobacco use in Bauchi State and public spaces nationwide.
