Bauchi Student Severely Injured in Phone Theft Attack

A serious incident occurred in Bauchi where a university student was attacked by suspected phone snatchers outside the university campus. The assailants reportedly used a knife to sever two fingers and part of the victim's ear while demanding their phone.

The Bauchi State Police Command, represented by Public Relations Officer Nafiu Habib, confirmed the attack and stated that efforts are ongoing to track down the suspects and recover the stolen phone. The victim is receiving treatment at Gadau Mai Refer Federal Medical Centre.

University management, represented by Vice Chancellor Professor Fatimah Tahir, expressed sympathy for the victim and emphasized the institution's commitment to safeguarding students and staff. They clarified that the attack did not occur within the university premises, countering misleading reports circulating online.

The university has called for calm and reaffirmed its collaboration with security agencies to improve safety around the campus.
