Court Halts Impeachment Moves Against Bayelsa Deputy Governor Amid Alleged Misconduct

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered a halt to the impeachment moves against Bayelsa Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo by the State House of Assembly. The court's decision came after Ewhrudjakpo was accused of misconduct and defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The court directed the Speaker and others to show cause why the impeachment process should not be stopped. Ewhrudjakpo had filed a motion seeking to restrain the Assembly from initiating impeachment proceedings against him.

This legal battle arises from political and constitutional issues in Bayelsa State.
