Bayelsa State Upgrades Science Labs in Public Schools

The Bayelsa State government has initiated an upgrade of science laboratories in public schools to improve science education. This initiative was unveiled during a ceremony in Yenagoa, with Professor Ebimieowei Etebu, the Executive Secretary of the Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF), emphasizing the importance of practical laboratory sessions for students.

Etebu stated that the trust fund would monitor beneficiary schools to ensure effective teaching and learning, rather than allowing equipment to remain unused. Professor Zekieni Yeleb, Chairman of the Bayelsa State Science and Technical Education Board, noted that Governor Douye Diri is committed to enhancing educational standards in public schools.

Yeleb urged school administrators and science teachers to maintain the laboratory equipment for student access, particularly in STEM subjects. Simon Peter Oken, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, reiterated the need for sustained support in the education sector.

Mr. Court Enebibodo, President of the Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, expressed gratitude for the government's timely intervention.
