Justice Abdullahi Bayero Laid to Rest in Kano

Justice Abdullahi Mahmud Bayero, a judge of the Court of Appeal, Kaduna Division, passed away last week in Cairo, Egypt. He was laid to rest in Kano, with the funeral prayer conducted at the Kano Emir’s Palace around 5:00 pm.

Family sources confirmed that relatives, colleagues, and members of the public attended the ceremony, after which he was buried at Farm Centre Cemetery in Kano. Justice Bayero was elevated from the Kano State High Court to the Court of Appeal in 2018, taking his oath of office on June 22 of that year.

He was widely respected for his integrity, fairness, and dedication to justice, having delivered landmark rulings on criminal case transfers, fundamental rights enforcement, and capital offences. His death has prompted widespread condolences, with well-wishers praying for Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him the highest rank in Jannatul Firdaus.

He was also recognized for his defense of Islam in Kano during its formative years.
