BCPG Urges Tinubu to Rehabilitate Old Federal Secretariat and Ikoyi Towers in Lagos

The Building Collapse Prevention Guild (BCPG) has sent an open letter dated February 6, 2026, urging Bola Tinubu to intervene and rehabilitate the long-abandoned old Federal Government Secretariat and Ikoyi Towers in Lagos. The structures, built in the 1970s and 1980s, have been largely unused for decades despite their strategic locations and immense value.

BCPG highlights the economic cost of neglecting these assets, estimating their combined value at over 12.6 trillion naira. The guild warns of safety risks, economic losses, and urban decay if the buildings continue to be underutilized.

The letter emphasizes the potential for economic and social benefits through the adaptive reuse of these properties, calling for Tinubu's influence to transform them into active and valuable assets for the community.
