BEDC Appeals Auction of Vehicles Amid Legal Battle

BEDC Electricity Plc has approached the court to appeal against the planned auction of three operational Toyota Hilux vehicles, which were attached following a 20 million judgment. The company, represented by senior legal officer Victor Mukoro, filed an affidavit seeking an urgent order to halt the auction scheduled for July 20, 2026.

The appeal was filed on May 6, 2024, challenging the judgment delivered on May 4, 2026, by Justice William R. Olamid of the Ondo State High Court, which awarded 20 million in general damages.

BEDC argues that the judgment was excessive and that the case fell outside the applicable limit period. The company has also filed a motion for interlocutory injunction to restrain the judgment creditor from disposing of its properties until the appeal is determined.

The vehicles, valued at 200 million naira, are essential for BEDC's operations across its franchise areas in Edo, Ondo, Ekiti, and Delta states.
