Ebonyi Police to Conduct Autopsy on Miss Mari Habila

The Ebonyi State Police Command announced plans to engage a qualified pathologist to conduct a post-mortem examination of Miss Mari Habila, despite her family's objections to the autopsy. The police received a distress call on June 27, 2026, regarding Miss Habila, which prompted the Ohaozara Division Police Officer to inform medical personnel at the Federal Teaching Hospital Uburu.

Upon arrival, it was reported that Miss Habila was brought in dead. The Commissioner of Police directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a comprehensive investigation.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Miss Habila was found dead in a room within the compound of the Minister's residence, where she was reportedly accompanying Engr David Umahi. The police emphasized the necessity of the autopsy to establish the true cause of death, given the sensitive nature of the case, and assured the public of a thorough and transparent investigation.
