Tor Tiv and Ooni of Ife Call for Unity in Benue

During the 50th anniversary celebration of Benue State held at IBB Square in Makurdi, the Tor Tiv, Professor James Iorzua Ayatse, and the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, urged political leaders to embrace unity and prioritize the interests of the people above personal political differences. The event commemorated the establishment of Benue State in 1976 and was described as a historic occasion by Professor Ayatse, who praised Governor Hyacinth Alia for organizing the state's first official anniversary celebration.

He acknowledged the resilience of the people of Benue despite facing years of insecurity and challenges. The Tor Tiv emphasized that the 50th anniversary symbolizes unity and progress over five decades, paying tribute to past leaders, particularly the late Aper Aku, for laying a strong foundation for the state's development.

The Ooni of Ife expressed fond memories of serving in Benue during his National Youth Service Corps program three decades ago and reiterated the importance of collective efforts to overcome security challenges and strengthen national unity.
