Benue Governor Vows to Clear Unpaid Pensions by Month-End

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has promised to settle outstanding pensions and gratuities accrued within the last two and a half years by the end of January 2026. This assurance comes after the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) in Benue State issued a 14-day ultimatum and threatened peaceful protests over unpaid pension arrears and non-harmonized pensions.

The governor made the commitment during a church service in Makurdi. The move aims to address the welfare of civil servants and retirees.
