Ortom Backs Aondoakaa as PDP Candidate for 2027 Elections

Samuel Ortom, the immediate past governor of Benue State, reaffirmed his support for Michael Aondoakaa SAN, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in a statement issued on Friday by his media aide, Zege Terhide. Ortom dismissed trending social media reports suggesting he intended to replace Aondoakaa as the PDP candidate.

He expressed confidence in Aondoakaa's experience and capability to address the state's challenges and lead it towards security, economic recovery, and sustainable development. Ortom acknowledged a meeting with other political actors, including Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro and Aondoakaa, to discuss forming an alliance for the upcoming governorship elections.

He clarified that the meeting did not entertain discussions about replacing Aondoakaa. Ortom insisted that Aondoakaa remains the duly nominated PDP candidate for the 2027 election and enjoys the support of the party's leadership and members.

He urged PDP members and supporters to disregard misinformation and focus on building a coalition for the state's benefit.
