Benue Police Command Facilitates Peace Accord for 2027 Elections

On September 16, 2026, the Benue State Police Command convened a meeting in Makurdi, where chairmen and representatives of political parties, candidates, and security agencies signed a Peace Accord in preparation for the 2027 general elections. The initiative aimed to foster peaceful political activities and ensure security throughout the electoral period.

Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus Nwadiogbu, addressed the attendees, urging political leaders and candidates to promote peaceful conduct among their supporters and to refrain from using political thugs or engaging in violent activities. He highlighted the significance of the Peace Accord as a commitment from the participating parties to reject political violence and respect the rights of opponents.

Nwadiogbu assured that the Police Command would maintain professionalism and impartiality in securing lawful political activities and called for effective communication between political actors and security agencies to facilitate proper security arrangements.
